eurydice

escape with me, mold a new life for us, out of rough, painful clay until it is smoother than

polished marble

cradle me,

in your palms,

such impenetrable shields,

yet soft to the touch

catch me,

as i collapse,

completely liquid

from your touch

collect me,

and my desperate tears,

lustrous pearls of estrangement,

as i claw for comfort

save me,

from their vicious claws,

and spirit me away,

swiftly, swiftly

steal me:

your precious cargo,

your stolen gems,

from the throes

of an inescapable, rotting

hell

heal me,

nurse me back to health,

cocoon me in glowing warmth,

dissipate the cool touch of death

escape with me,

mold a new life for us,

out of rough, painful clay

until it is smoother than

polished marble

love me until

you cannot any longer,

love me until

you ache in my absence

love me until

you erase every haunting memory,

until they are but tasteless vapor.
